Global Underwater Hub - Newcastle
Global Underwater Hub is holding a defence-focused industry engagement event at its north of England office in Newcastle. Offering and promoting opportunities for cross-sectoral collaboration across the underwater industry is a key part of the organisation’s remit.
One area where opportunities exist is in the defence sector, and this half-day event on Thursday, 10 July will explore some of these. It is being held in conjunction with our strategic partners London Tech Bridge – a collaborative initiative between the US Navy and the Royal Navy.
This event provides a platform for industry and representatives of the US and UK naval services to meet and explore opportunities for working together. If your company has a technology or product which could be utilised by the navies to address a specific challenge, or is currently in the early stages of developing new equipment and is seeking feedback on possible applications, then this event aims to offer insight and the opportunity for discussion with the relevant parties.
About London Tech Bridge
London Tech Bridge is a collaboration between the US Navy and Royal Navy to foster connectivity, agility and innovation under the broader ambition of Delivering Combined Seapower. It supports dialogue, joint investment and cooperative development between both navies as they endeavour to advance from interoperability to interchangeability. Both navies are interested in technology to make sailors and marines more efficient, more effective, happier and less burdened.
London Tech Bridge has five core focus areas for technology:
- Immersive Technologies
- Workforce of the Future
- Autonomy & Human/Machine Teaming
- Integrated Decision Making & Communications
- Maintenance & Sustainment
Format
A series of informative presentations outlining the market opportunities in the defence sector, the role of London Tech Bridge and how it operates, and examples of naval challenges it has sought new and novel approaches for, will be delivered in the morning.
Following a light networking lunch, London Tech Bridge representatives will be available for one-to-one meetings with GUH member companies, which will last 10-15 minutes. Advance booking is required at time of registration.
Why attend?
If your company is currently working in, or considering undertaking work in, the maritime defence sector, this half-day event will offer excellent insight and highlight potential opportunities. It will also put you in direct contact with naval representatives that are actively seeking new ways to solve problems and improve processes.
