Global Underwater Hub will hold its third annual Moorings and Anchors Conference & Workshop in Edinburgh on Thursday, 19 March 2026.  This popular and successful one-day conference will once again bring together those with an interest in subsea moorings and anchor systems for use in the conventional and renewable energy sectors.

Conference Overview

Featuring both presentations and workshop sessions, the Moorings and Anchors Conference & Workshop aims to explore the key elements of the life cycle of mooring systems.  The format of the day offers opportunities to learn about new developments, discuss current challenges and share knowledge and experiences in an area which is critical as offshore projects in multiple sectors move to ever increasing water depths and the potentially pivotal role that they will play in the success of floating offshore wind.

The sold-out 2025 conference, sponsored by Port of Aberdeen, brought together over 100 senior managers, technical authorities, naval architects, geotechnical engineers, project managers and business development personnel from a range of companies that work across the moorings and anchor systems supply chain.  This included developers, manufacturers, surveyors, installers and maintainers.

The conference programme is being finalised and will be published online shortly. It will focus on the core issues shaping the growing demand for mooring systems in floating production, with a clear aim to lead industry discussion across ropes, connections, tension and re-tensioning, and monitoring.

Conference sessions will cover:

  • Fibre rope systems: Nylon rope performance, certification, installation and long-term behaviour of fibre ropes for floating moorings.
  • Connection, disconnection and re-tensioning: Efficient installation methods, wet storage, vessel time reduction and tow-to-port strategies.
  • Operations, monitoring and life-cycle management: Inspection, data integration and modelling approaches to manage risk and reduce long-term costs.

Who should attend

From its inception in 2024, Global Underwater Hub’s annual Moorings and Anchors Conference & Workshop has drawn together stakeholders from across the underwater supply chain to showcase innovation and discuss and debate the challenges and opportunities ahead.

With competition for resources within the oil and gas, offshore wind and marine renewables sectors that could impact delivery of all planned offshore projects in UK waters in the intended timescales, the input of from various voices and skillsets is vital.  This one-day conference in Edinburgh will once again convene industry to examine the way forward.

Previous editions of the conference have welcomed representatives from ports, government agencies, developers, mooring specialists, vessel operators, engineering companies, academia and the wider supply chain.

Naval architects, engineers, CEOs, technical directors, marine consultants, technical authorities and commercial managers have been among the delegates sharing their insight in this important area.

Already confirmed among the attendees for the 2026 conference are representatives from developers, including Copenhagen Offshore Partners, ESB, Flotation Energy, Nadara and Simply Blue Group, with members of the Global Underwater Hub Developer Forum also expected to be present.
